{{Pause=5}} There are different types of well-researched relaxation techniques. Some emphasize movement and release. Some emphasize whole body relaxation. Some emphasize pleasant images. Some use silent repetitive self-instructions. {{Pause=1}} Which is best? We will use this relaxation profile to find out. {{Pause=1}} Here we will have a chance to find out how your body responds to relaxation. We will explore several types of relaxation strategies to see which ones feel best to you. {{Pause=1}} Your instructor will place several sensors on the surface of your skin. These sensors measure your physiological functioning. {{Pause=3}} Your instructor will then take a baseline. This baseline lets us know what happens when nothing in particular is going on. We will then introduce several relaxation techniques, one after another, with a small break. Each relaxation segment will last 3 or more minutes. This will allow you to experience a particular relaxation technique. {{Pause=1}} In between relaxation techniques, you will have the chance to estimate how completely you relaxed.
